About Us

Built in Dunoon, with care

The Good Turn is being built by me, Laura, here in Dunoon.

It began simply enough. I kept thinking about the homes around us: the holiday cottages waiting for guests, the busy family houses, the places that need to feel cared for before anyone walks through the door.

A clean home changes the feeling of a day. For a host, it means the next guests can arrive without worry. For a homeowner, it means coming back to order, calm and a bit of breathing space. That is the kind of help I want The Good Turn to offer.

The work starts with the basics, done properly. Beds made. Bathrooms fresh. Kitchens checked. Supplies noticed. The small things looked at before the key turns in the door.

Over time, I would love The Good Turn to grow into something that offers good, practical work for young people locally. Work where they can learn how to show up, take care, build confidence and feel proud of doing a job well.

That bigger hope matters to me. But the service comes first.

For hosts and homeowners, The Good Turn is here to offer careful, dependable help from someone local who understands that clean is one thing, and guest-ready is another.

Guest Changeovers

For Airbnbs, holiday lets and self-catering cottages.

A complete between-stay clean and reset, including beds prepared with host-supplied linen, bathrooms refreshed, guest supplies arranged and a final property check.

Home Care Cleans

Weekly, fortnightly and one-off support for local homes.

Practical help shaped around the priorities of the household, with products and equipment included.

Reset Cleans

For seasonal properties, homes reopening after a gap, post-guest recovery or spaces requiring more than a maintenance clean.

Reset cleans are assessed before a price is confirmed.

The Good Turn Note is a short message sent after the work is finished. It lets you know the property is ready and mentions anything you may need to know.

Everything is ready for the next guests and the house is locked up. You're getting a little low on washing-up liquid, and the bathroom window catch feels loose. I've added a photo so you can see it.

For holiday-let changeovers, finishing photographs are included. Home-care customers can receive a brief completion message if helpful. We never photograph a private home unless this has been requested and agreed.

The Good Turn Cupboard

A small cupboard of useful things for self-catering hosts — growing quietly, from what hosts actually need.

The longer I spend in these homes, the more I notice the same small gaps: the supplies that run low, the welcome touches that make an arrival feel cared for, the bits that keep a changeover running smoothly. The Good Turn Cupboard is where those things will live — practical, guest-ready, and shaped by what hosts actually ask for.

There's no shop just yet — it's growing in the background. For now, the best help I can offer is a proper changeover. The cupboard will open when it's ready.
